Photojournalism CONTEST! - Faces of Freedom
This 5-week in-paper series for grades 5-8 begins September 17 and is perfect for Constitution Day requirements. Students will learn about the five freedoms guaranteed in the first amendment and discuss them using today's top stories. Study guide and discussion questions will center on famous photos depicting the five freedoms – or their restriction. At the conclusion of the series, students will be asked to choose one of the freedoms to represent through a photograph of their own. (Entry form and guidelines are provided.) Five winners will be chosen, one for each freedom, to receive prizes and to meet Governor Patrick in December. All entries will be posted on the Herald In Education website as a photo collage. Our popular teacher's guide “The Power & The Glory: The Constitution, is included.
